About the event
The Italy Mental Health Exchange Programme is a five-day professional learning journey set in Trieste and Udine, Friuli Venezia Giulia — home to one of the most influential mental health reforms in modern history: the Trieste model, pioneered by Franco Basaglia.
Inspired by EU-PROMENS, organised by the experienced mental health event management team of GlobalInMind in partnership with Consorzio COSM, this programme brings together 15 mental health professionals from across Europe and beyond for an intensive, hands-on experience rooted in experiential and participatory learning.
Each day combines morning study visits to community mental health centres (CSM) and local services with afternoon collaborative working groups, where participants and local practitioners work side by side on three thematic areas: community-based care and deinstitutionalisation, peer support and participatory governance, and intersectoral cooperation across housing, employment, and social inclusion. Select evenings include cultural visits, including the Basaglia Museum.
