Adapting and implementing MHPSS interventions

Vitalii Klymchuk worked with HIAS, Inc. as a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Adaptation and Implementation Consultant to support the organisation’s Ukraine Response. The consultancy focused on adapting and implementing context-relevant MHPSS interventions tailored to the needs of vulnerable populations, including displaced persons, women, and youth affected by the war in Ukraine.

During the consultancy, Vitalii Klymchuk provided technical expertise to support the development, localisation, and integration of MHPSS approaches within HIAS’ broader humanitarian programming. He contributed to the adaptation of training materials and facilitated clinical supervision to ensure high-quality delivery of psychological services. The scope of work included advising on MHPSS strategies, ensuring cultural appropriateness, and supporting the capacity development of HIAS teams and implementing partners.

Additional responsibilities included delivering technical guidance on intervention strategies, reviewing materials, and conducting clinical supervision sessions.

Through this engagement, HIAS strengthened its MHPSS response capacity in Ukraine and enhanced the quality and cultural relevance of mental health services offered to conflict-affected populations.
