Certificate Programme “Mental Health in Organisations”

In 2022–2023, the training programme “Mental Health in Organisations” was implemented in Ukraine to address the growing need for mental health competence among professionals working in workplace and organisational settings. The programme was developed and delivered by Dr. Vitalii Klymchuk and Dr. Viktoriia Gorbunova, based on evidence-informed methods, international standards, and WHO recommendations.

The programme aimed to equip participants with practical skills for assessing, promoting, and supporting mental health in workplace environments. It focused on strengthening participants’ capacity to identify mental health risks in organisations, implement preventative and promotional interventions, and develop systems of support for employees with common mental disorders.

The structure of the programme included four intensive 3-day modules delivered quarterly, intermodular self-study, team-based assignments, and supervised practice. The curriculum covered the basics of mental health and its disorders in the workplace, strategies for prevention and promotion, support systems for employees with mental health challenges, and evaluation of the economic effectiveness of interventions.

Participants were trained to use validated screening tools, develop mental health action plans for organisations, design awareness and anti-stigma campaigns, and conduct economic analyses to advocate for mental health investment. A final team-based certification project summarised all learning components and practical outcomes. Upon successful completion, participants received a certificate from “Mental Health. Solutions".

The course contributed to building a new generation of professionals capable of implementing systemic mental health strategies within Ukrainian organisations, promoting both well-being and productivity.
